![]() ![]() I read over the following thread in it's entirety but did not find what I was looking for viewtopic.php?f=141&t=80833&hilit=quietest I did a bit of searching on the forum and I could not find a definitive answer and basically wound up with more questions than answers. That's when I wrote it off, and moved to the N120.Hi everyone. That wasn't cycling my 8" well, and I didn't want to open the adjustable gas block more, since I mostly shoot supersonic ammo out of it. The load was 9.0 gr of H110 with a COL of 2.075" producing an avg of 1088fps, and a range of 1074fps to 1109fps. My second iteration I used my 8" suppressed barrel. It cycled and locked back with that velocity. I didn't actually run that load, but it would have been my next iteration if I hadn't dropped it.įirst was 10.0 gr H110 with COL 2.125" out of the suppressed Rattler with an avg of 1140 fps with a range of 1132fps to 1151fps. I didn't end up working up an ideal load for the Rattler, but one that should get you close is 9.5 gr of H110 with a COL of 2.1". I've found a lot of variance in brass, so I adjust loads based on the brass I am using. I was using new starline brass with a non-primed weight from 84gr to 86gr and CCI 450 primers. The bullets I used are 1.515" long, so keep that in mind. I don't think mine would, but yours might be newer, and they may have opened up the gas valve more for their newer, low backpressure suppressors. I'll be interested to know if your Rattler cycles reliably and locks back on empty, if you decide on the N110. Different people have different perspectives on this. I don't chase the Lands with 300 BO, I try to reduce the spread in velocity, adjusting the seating depth to help accomplish that. For most of the powders I use for 300 BLK, I get lower velocity spreads with the bullet on the powder or slightly compressing it, dependent on the powder. You can twist it down if you want, to fill in around the boattail with powder, and check it again. That's generally how I find my starting point. ![]() See where you are at from a COL perspective, with the bullet just sitting on the powder. Leave the spent primer in it, then load it with the charge you plan to use. You might want to take a spent case that is as close to the same as you can get to what you are going to load. The bullet's length in this batch is: 1.542". ![]() I am not sure how much they changed the shape. I just got a box of the LeHigh 194gr maximum expansion bullets in. That gives me around 970 fps out of a Rattler, and 1060 fps out of a 9" MCX. That's with Starline brass that weighs between 84gr and 86gr without a primer. It's what I have preferred with this bullet so far, and I use 10.4 gr with a COL of 2.195", and CCI 450 primers. N120 may not be the quietest, but it generates enough gas to be reliable in all of mine, and burns clean. ![]() I've thought about trying it, but have been concerned about reliable cycling. I haven't used N110, so I can't help you with a specific load. Keep that in mind with any load data you find on-line. Mine are about 1.515" in length, and I noticed they are shown to be quite a bit longer now. The Part Number on the site is different than I have been using. Relative to COL, I think Lehigh recently changed this bullet. ![]()
